The IPDC Conference 2026 brings together the International Panel for Deltas and Coastal Areas community to share experiences, exchange knowledge, and strengthen collaboration on climate adaptation in deltas, coastal regions, and small islands.
The conference focuses on accelerating adaptation by learning from practice. Participants reflect on the results of ongoing IPDC projects, discuss what works in different contexts, and explore how knowledge, networks, and ways of working can continue to support adaptation beyond 2026.
Conference focus
Across three days, the conference combines plenary sessions, interactive exchanges, and networking moments. The programme is structured around three themes.
- Reconnect and align
The first day focuses on reconnecting the IPDC community and aligning on shared challenges, priorities, and ambitions for adaptation in deltas and islands. Country representatives share experiences through country pitches and interactive workshops.
- Knowledge exchange and co creation
The second day centers on exchanging lessons learned from IPDC projects and co creating knowledge. Participants engage in thematic discussions on key adaptation challenges, validate emerging knowledge products, and explore how these can be applied and shared in different contexts.
- Connect and activate
The final day brings together IPDC countries, partners, and Dutch knowledge institutes to reflect on results and future opportunities. Through thematic exchanges, panel discussions, and networking, participants consider next steps they can take individually or within their own organisations.

The conference is organised by Deltares and Climate Adaptation Services, under the leadership and with financial support of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management.
