How can climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction be integrated, and how can we learn from each other in these areas? To find out, we’re organising an online session on Wednesday 30 October from 14:00 – 15:00 CET.

During the session, we’ll explore a range of issues, including bottlenecks, challenges, and best practices, with experts and practitioners.

The session is free and all those who are interested are welcome to join.

It will feature a broad range of speakers and will be illustrated with case studies from Indonesia and St Martin. Both Indonesia and St Martin are geographically vulnerable to challenges exacerbated by climate change such as extreme weather, natural hazards, and sea level rise. Their populations bear the brunt of this vulnerability, with many local communities having limited resources and adaptive capacity. During the session, we will explore how an integrated approach helps to optimize resources, reduce duplication of efforts, and build resilience against compounding risks from both natural hazards and climate change.

The sessions are part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen the knowledge network for water climate adaptation. This session is a follow-up to the first online session, held earlier this year, during which participants highlighted the importance of discussion the integration of disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation.
