‘No country or island can do this alone. And they don’t need to, either. We can learn from each other, strengthen each other and share knowledge, solutions, and financing with each other. That’s what the IPDC is all about. From Shared Global Knowledge to Local Action!’
Motivation
Deltas, coasts, and islands are are under pressure worldwide as a result of climate change, rapid urbanisation, water related shocks and stresses. Countries need to accelerate climate adaptation action with knowledge, plans and financial means to do so.
The IPDC puts water at the heart of climate adaptation action. It is an international platform aimed at improving lives, livelihoods and ecosystems in deltas, coastal areas, and islands
We form a unique partnership by bringing together governments, financial institutions, scientific experts, and practitioners from around the world. This increases engagement and accelerates climate adaptation action at the local level.
No country can tackle these challenges alone; that’s why we believe countries can help each other in dealing with these challenges by sharing expertise, experience, solutions and by working together to tackle the challenges they face.
We support the implementation of integrated climate adaptation strategies and accelerating climate actions.
The IPDC aims be ground-breaking in the way we exchange information, learn together, develop solutions and action plans, and make decisions
Objectives
The IPDC is a leading and effective network of countries and financial institutions that share the
challenges of adaptation. We want to be ground-breaking in the way we exchange information, learn together, develop solutions and action plans, and make decisions
The IPDC network ensures that the necessary knowledge to create delta solutions is available and actively shared on a range of issues, including adaptation measures, projects, and good practice.
The IPDC supports its members in making choices, be it in projects or in adaptation strategies.
Organisation
The IPDC is a Dutch government-led initiative, and is facilitated by Deltares and Climate Adaptation Services.
